The mattress can easily be stained, especially if you have children, animals, or if you eat in bed. Accidents can happen! At first sight, stains can be hard to remove, but there are some tricks that can save you from this job, effortlessly.
If you spilled coffee, water or any other liquid on the mattress, the first step is to press sprinkle over baking soda. It will quickly absorb the texture. Then remove the baking soda, and repeat the procedure if is necessary.
How to get rid of stains from the mattress
Ammonia
Ammonia is one of the solutions you can call with confidence to get rid of the stains on the mattress.
Add a few drops of dish detergent and a cup of ammonia in 1 liter of water. Mix well the solution then soak a cotton cloth in this solution and wipe the stained area. In case if the stain is old, apply the cloth over the stain and let it act for 5 minutes. Remove the cloth and rub well the area again.
Important: the cloth or sponge should be damp in this solution not wet, so you have to squeeze it well.
Careful! If you use this solution, it’s recommended to use protective gloves and open the window not to inhale ammonia vapors.
Vinegar
Vinegar is another handy solution for many people. It is useful in removing stains and, in addition, removes odors.
Prepare a solution of 500 ml white vinegar, 200 ml of warm water and 2 tablespoons of dish detergent.
Using a sponge or a cloth soaked in this solution, clean the mattress, insisting on the stained area. Finally, wipe the mattress with a clean cotton cloth that absorbs liquid. Open the windows and ventilate the room, letting fresh air to penetrate into the room and allow the mattress to dry faster.
